When Brands start doing this I hope people remember who did it first.

Got friends? If so, sharing is caring -->

So I hope you have noticed the new look here at (and I will write about that in the next blog post) but there is something pretty special that you may have not noticed yet…and I expect to be copied.

The thing that is so special, imho, is the url. Ya see I went with a “.is” extension (from Iceland if you are keeping score) so I could create blog posts like this one with the url or even better full pages of this site that are as clear as day to what they are like (for my speaking career) or (for my side projects) and I have plans to add hundreds of pages of things that will entertain and amaze.

Pretty clever huh? Now imagine what a big brand could do with this? or or even The possibilities are endless and with the number of .com’s getting almost impossible to find I would not be surprised if this becomes more popular…so please just remember where you saw it first!

  1. I just might have to steal this – with attribution, of course.

  2. Unfortunately I do NOT remember where I saw this first. But it wasn’t here. And it was probably around a month ago. It all started with something linking to Chris Shiftlett’s “URL Vanity”, which then transitioned into ‘URLs as sentences’… if that was you, then awesome! If not, a bit disingenuous to want credit for an idea that’s been floating around for a little while now. 😉

    • Hey Greg,

I hadn’t heard of Chris Shiftlett’s “URL Vanity” before you mentioned it so I did a quick search and yes he did blog about it a few years back but from what I can see isn’t doing what I am and don’t see myself as disingenuous since I am not taking credit for an idea that someone else executed on and I just sat back on. Anyway not looking to start up. Just saying Ideas and Execution are different.

…and this is in no way a shot at Chris Shiftlett. I don’t know him and am not commenting on him in any way.

  3. Giving you full credit, Saul! And yes, You.are.a-genius. Great branding from one marketing mind to another. 😉

  4. Very clever. And a creative use of branding. Will definitely pass this along. Out of curiosity, does the domain registration for “.is” cost more than a U.S.-based one?

  5. the URL says it all
    you sir ARE a genius

  6. Really great idea 🙂 When people start copying you, I’ll know where to put my first hyperlink 😉

  7. I gotta say: you’re a freaking genius. And yeah, I’m going to steal this 🙂

  8. Saul… you are indeed a genius. BUT your spelling is atrocious. RESPONCE? Muhahaha.

  10. Wow, you really ARE the smartest man in the world!
I kid, but it really is brilliant.

Your spelling of “responce” can be passed off as a creative design choice. No one has to know.

  11. whatever we want him to be!

Satish (@skanwar) also has a neat vanity url –

Be well and keep being smart.

  12. And they are only $149 a year ( or $499 for 2 years ( What a deal!
